Denver LGBTQIA+ Alternatives to Suicide

Peer Support Group

A peer-led space to talk openly about suicidal thoughts β€” without fear, force, or fixing.

Denver LGBTQIA+ Alternatives to Suicide Peer Support Group is a free, non-clinical, peer-led support group for LGBTQIA+ adults who experience thoughts of suicide, self-harm, or a desire to escape life.

This group is grounded in the Alternatives to Suicide approach developed by the Wildflower Alliance and Yarrow Collective, which centers connection, curiosity, and shared humanity rather than diagnosis, risk management, or coercion.

What Makes Alternatives to Suicide Different

Many people have been harmed when they tried to talk honestly about suicidal thoughts β€” through forced hospitalization, police involvement, loss of autonomy, or being treated as a problem to be managed.

This group is intentionally different.

This is a space where you can speak openly about suicidal thoughts and urges without fear, and where those experiences are understood as meaningful responses to pain β€” not symptoms to be eliminated.

What the Group Is Like

This is not a group where everyone is required to check in or speak.

You are welcome to:

Conversation is guided by curiosity and respect. Participants often ask questions of one another β€” not to fix or advise, but to understand more deeply and build connection.

Names and pronouns are shared at the start of group, including access needs. You may use different names or pronouns here than you do elsewhere in your life.

Who This Group Is For

This group is for LGBTQIA+ adults (18+) who:

You do not need to be in immediate crisis to attend.
You do not need to know what you want or need.
You are welcome exactly as you are.
